Type your information
A place name, a dish, a price, a speaker's title. Every card is a short form — fill the fields and the canvas updates as you type. Add a logo or product image where the layout allows it.
Pick a card and a theme
Twelve overlay types, two themes. Liquid Glass for a translucent panel that holds legible type over water, foliage and busy dining rooms. White Text for typography only, with a shadow calibrated to disappear on light footage and hold on dark. Set the safe area for your platform so nothing lands under a caption bar.
Export and drop it on your timeline
Transparent .mov with an alpha channel — the format Premiere, Final Cut and Resolve want. Composite it over your footage and you are done. There is an FFmpeg command and a Final Cut handoff for anyone who prefers the command line.
Twelve cards, each solving a real problem
These are not templates we invented to fill a grid. Each one exists because we kept rebuilding it by hand, edit after edit.
Location card
Place name, region and country, with an optional coordinate readout. The card we open almost every travel video with.
Speaker label
Name, role and handle as a lower third. Sits in the corner without covering the face.
Caption bar
A clean subtitle strip that clears the platform UI. Short, medium and long widths.
Callout
A pointer with a short label for drawing attention to a detail mid-frame.
Topic card
A heading with supporting lines — the chapter opener for an essay or a review.
Currency card
Local price converted to your viewer's currency, with the rate shown. The question every travel comment section asks.
Negotiation card
Asking price, what you offered, what you settled at. A running scoreboard for market haggling.
Cheers card
The local word for cheers, phonetic spelling and country. Small, and people love it.
Versus card
Two options weighed against each other, for comparison and taste-test formats.
Ingredients list
A stacked ingredient or spec list that builds on screen line by line.
QR promo
Live QR generation with an offer card. Point a phone at the screen and land on the brand's page — the format sponsors ask for.

Intro
An animated open with your title and subtitle. Set the pace: snappy, normal or slow.
Chapter
Numbered section breaks so a long video reads as episodes.

Liquid Glass
A translucent panel with refracted edges and a controlled sheen. Reads over water, foliage, steam and low-light dining rooms — the conditions where flat text disappears. Adjustable blur, tint and corner radius, with a Frosted variant for a heavier treatment.
White Text
Typography only. The shadow is calibrated to stay invisible on light footage and legible on dark, which is the whole difficulty with text-only overlays. Thin, normal and bold weights, three sizes, adjustable position and alignment.

We kept rebuilding the same card.
We have shipped more than 1,500 videos across YouTube and TikTok. Every travel video needs a location card. Every food video needs a dish name a viewer can actually pronounce. Every market haggle needs the numbers on screen.
Building those by hand cost about an hour an edit. At our volume that is a working week a month, spent redrawing rectangles.
So we built it once, properly, and kept adding cards as we hit the next problem. The currency card came from a comment section. The negotiation card came from a market in Ho Chi Minh City. The QR promo came from a sponsor who wanted a trackable link on screen.

Before you subscribe
Do I have to upload my video?
No, and you cannot. Overlay Studio makes the overlay layer, not the edit. Everything renders in your browser and you export a transparent file to composite in your own editor. Your footage never touches our servers — which also means no upload wait and no storage limits.
Which editors does it work with?
All of them. The output is a standard transparent .mov with an alpha channel, plus PNG with alpha for stills. Tested against Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve and CapCut. There is also an FFmpeg command and a Final Cut handoff for anyone who prefers the command line.
Can I use exports in paid client work?
Yes, on any paid plan, at no extra cost — including advertising and broadcast. What you make with the tool is yours. You do not owe us a credit, a royalty or a license fee. The free tier's watermark is what makes it unsuitable for client delivery; that is the intended difference between the tiers.
What happens if I cancel?
You keep access until the end of the period you have paid for, then it stops. Files you have already exported remain yours permanently, including anything already published or delivered to a client. Cancelling does not reach back into work you have made. Your saved presets are held for ninety days in case you return.
Which browser do I need?
Chrome or Edge for full functionality including transparent video export. Safari and Firefox run the tool but cannot export every format, because those browsers do not implement the underlying APIs. That is a browser limitation rather than a fault, and we would rather tell you now than after you have paid.
Will there be more overlay cards?
Yes. New cards ship to every paid plan at no extra charge. We build the ones we need for our own client work first, which is how all twelve of the current ones came about.
Is there a team or agency plan?

What if it does not work for me?
Email us within 24 hours of your first payment and we will refund it in full, no explanation required. It applies to a first subscription only, and is limited to one refund per person, ever — it exists so you are not stuck if the tool is wrong for you, not as a way to take a month of exports for free. A video overlay generator built by people who edit every week
Most overlay tools are template libraries — a grid of animated lower thirds you drop in and hope fits. Overlay Studio works the other way round. Each card is a short form you fill in, and the layout, type sizing, contrast and safe-area positioning are handled for you. You type a dish name; you get a card that is legible over a dim restaurant table at six inches wide.
That distinction matters most in the conditions where overlays usually fail. Water, foliage, steam, neon, low-light dining rooms, bright snow. The Liquid Glass theme exists because a translucent panel with controlled blur and edge refraction is the only reliable way to hold white type over unpredictable footage. White Text exists because most of the time you do not want a panel at all — you want typography a viewer barely notices until they need to read it.
